As we approach the 50th anniversary of the incredible platform that began as NZ Artists and Writers Association, became Ngā Puna Waihanga, and  is now Te Hā o Ngā Pou Kaituhi Māori, we are excited to join forces with Te Whē - te hau o te whenua to hold a combined National Writers Hui alongside a gathering of kaumātua and leading thinkers in Te Ao Māori where generations of Māori artists and writers will wānanga on the theme of Māori storytelling in the past, present and future.

Acting on the request of Pāpā Haare Williams and Whaea Patricia Grace, ‘Te Hā o te Kupu’ will see a reunion of Māori Artists and Writers Society leaders and their descendants, in conversation with contemporary Māori writers and rangatahi to survey the terrain for indigenous storytellers, strengthen inter-generational networks and springboard rangatahi Māori storytellers into confident and successful careers.

The 2021 National Māori Writers Hui will proceed under Level 1 with tickets released for online sale in the coming fortnight.
